Welding Fab Contest at Rochester H.S.

When SkillsUSA closed their competition for the year, teachers from Rochester H.S. and Rainer H.S. joined forces to put on their own competition for the kids at Rochester High School facilities. Patricia McMahan, Pacific Region Manager at our Chehalis, WA location found an opportunity to help as a sponsor.

As the project for the contest students were given 6 hours to build a Fire Wood Rack. For the contest the students had 6 hours to build a Fire Wood Rack.

Teachers from the 2 schools attending:

  • Rochester High School – Michael  Jeske
  • Rainier High School – John Lybecker

Thanks to the Judges who volunteered their time for the contest!

  • Dahlia Locy– Rochester Grad and attended UTI for welding
  • Dakota Bird– Rochester Grad, competed in this contest as a student, and works at Ace Hardware
  • Brad Tarbet – Owner of Truepoint Metalworks & Welding, Inc., Rochester, WA

1st Place: Abigail Avery, Harbor Lees (Rainier), Aaron Livingston (Rochester)
2nd Place: Colter Peterson, Adan Baires (Rochester)

4th Place: Sloan Fulton, Autumn Kenney, Josh Maggard (Rainier)

No one went home empty handed. Patrica McMahan was happy to share lots of prizes that were donated by vendors of Central Welding Supply:
