Jessi Combs Awarded World Speed Record

We celebrate the news today that American race car driver Jessi Combs was posthumously awarded the women’s world land speed record on Wednesday.

Jessi was among the driving team of the North American Eagle project, in a quest to break the world land speed record. Known as the “fastest woman on 4 wheels,” Jessi won the award for the 2019 attempt that claimed her life at age 39.

She drove 522.783 miles per hour before the fatal crash last August, to eclipse the Guinness Book of Records for fastest time ever clocked by a woman.

Jessi brought new exposure to the team  based on her talent and her celebrity (Jessi was the Lincoln Electric spokeswoman and model for their Redline brand of women’s welding gear). She was also a social media superstar.

Central Welding Supply was a sponsor of the North American Eagle for many years and we all mourned the loss. We celebrate the award for her talent and light she brought to leave a mark in history for women, in both welding and auto sports.

CONGRATULATIONS JESSI – YOU’RE NUMBER ONE!
